With over ten years in Chinese medicinal herb production, BRCCM is dedicated to applying our experience to fostering new growth for local farms and the community at large. We hope to help build a more sustainable, economically and environmentally-sound foundation for the future by supporting effective cultivation and marketing of high-value plants.

That’s good news for Floyd County, where eighty-six percent of farmers are unable to make a living wage through farming alone. By fall of 2015 we recruited 35 area farms to participate in the Appalachian Herb Growers Consortium and added another 15 in the Spring of 2016, with all of them planted in an array of Chinese Medicinal Herbs.

Farmers have the support of a source for reliable seed and plants, on-site consultations, help with harvests and post-harvest handling, and virtually guaranteed sales through an established national herb-buying consortium. With this, our participating farmers can focus on what they do best: farming.
